Fight or Die: Ch. 1

(12 months earlier)

It was dark. Only a glimmer of moving light made its way through the cracks of the trunk. I tried moving my arms, but they were bound. I started to panic. Where was I? I remember unloading an obnoxious amount of groceries from my car and then nothing.

I could hear the hum of an engine and the clanging of what sounded like a chain. As I felt around, I could make out the outlines of tools, blankets, and other miscellaneous items.

The air was stale and wreaked of exhaust. I couldn’t breathe. I started to hyperventilate, realizing my mouth was taped. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t scream.

The car seemed to slow, then sped up again. It felt like hours – surely I was going to suffocate. I began kicking – there is supposed to be a release in a trunk. Was this an older model car, could it have one.

My eyes were starting to adjust to the dark – but I couldn’t find a lever. I fought to break the tape on my feet and hands, but it was on too tight. The more I fought the more tired I began to feel. As I felt the car slow again, I lost consciousness.
